Hatching Eggs

Picture

Please Note:  Chicken eggs take 21 Days to hatch
Please Note: When buying eggs from any blue coloured poultry, please do not expect all resulting chicks to hatch out blue, this is not how it works. .
The Colour genetic combination for resulting off spring are as follows:  Blue x Blue mating's will
only give you approx, 50% Blue offspring only + you will get 25% Black & 25% Splash (very pale blue with splash of darker blue) chicks hatch out.

This is just the way all blue poultry genetics work, including the blue laced varieties, as well as any blue coloured ducks also.
For all those wanting eggs for hatching your own box of fluffies we are pleased to be able offer limited sittings of our own hatching eggs most of the time, from our popular heritage breeds of Poultry, including our ducks (when we can find their eggs) although they are often very limited week to week due to seasonal laying, and filling our own incubators first, for our own hatching's, so be sure to check with us first at least a week ahead to avoid disappointments.

We often have newly hatched chicks – available from many of our breeds, depending on laying & fertility. Please check availability with us first,  as we only keep small breeding flocks of each breed, (we do not keep large commercial size flocks of birds) we have many different breed that are all penned in their own individual pens to ensure the chicks are all pure breeds.   However on occasion due to natural events beyond our control the odd escapee rooster may fertilize a hen he should not, (un-be-known to us at the time) which does not happen often, however due to unforeseen circumstances it has occurred on occasion in the past as we are dealing with livestock and natural events and this is just a fact of nature and disasters, such as natural weather patterns, i.e. storms & winds knocking down pen's etc, can all create unexpected havoc at times.

We can offer ducklings seasonally & these are usually also very limited, depending on when the ducks are breeding / sitting and what they hatch out naturally!

We can package up and post your eggs out if you are unable to collect  them yourself - however there is always going to be some risk to eggs in transit, see more below re; risks and shipping options / costs.
When dealing with nature no one can absolutely guarantee anything & while we do do our very best to provide this service to our customers, please do not expect 100% of eggs fertile or hatch out, as there are just too many variables to consider along the way, once the eggs leave our careful hands.

Buff Orpington Ducklings

From all accounts and the vast amount of positive feed back we have received from our customers most have been achieving fantastic results and are very happy with hatch rates.

However it is unreasonable to expect 100% hatching or fertility, when dealing with nature - although it is great when this does occur, your hatch rate has nothing to do with the fertility, so please do not be too disappointed if things don't go 100% according to plan or your expectations, especially with eggs that have been through the post as each package is handled differently, and not all are handled well.

Buying Hatching eggs  -

 - brings with it No Guarantee that you will hatch out live chicks!

And while we do our very best to supply good viable hatching eggs, we are however dealing with nature to a certain extent, therefore offer no refunds or replacements for any eggs from any failed hatchings - as there are just too many variables to consider once any eggs leave our careful hands!  Not excluding handling by customers once eggs have been purchased.

We sell & supply many hatching eggs all over the country with excellent results, including posting many out, however there is more risk to eggs when they are posted as eggs were not laid to travel!  So all eggs are considered " at buyers risk " as sometimes things go wrong and no-one can be sure of anything when dealing with Nature.

Hatch Rate has nothing to do with the fertility rate, hatching the eggs once you have them is entirely up to you !
We only sell eggs that have been tested for fertility, but can't guarantee your hatch rate as there are too many variables to consider once the eggs leave our hands. .

An egg that fails to develop does not necessarily mean it was infertile, or not viable at the time it was shipped off to you.  There are many circumstances that can cause an egg not to develop, including any hard knocks received during transit, which can affect the outcome, this will not necessarily mean all eggs in the same package will be affected as you may expect.
Each egg has a little white tail at each end of the yolk to hold it in the center of the white and if for example a tail is damaged or broken, in short - this will result in the egg becoming unstable and as a result will fail to develop. . Eggs can also be destroyed inwardly by rough handling, extreme temperatures and lack of knowledge about the incubation process. .

Please Note; Buyers' should be aware, 'You are buying eggs' - Not guaranteed chicks.!

We would never knowingly provide anyone with eggs from any of our breed/s that are known to have any fertility issues, we are hatching our eggs out here ourselves every week, to keep a good eye on all our birds fertility, with good strong healthy vigorous chicks hatching out as a result!

Our eggs are collected daily and regularly turned until incubation every Wednesday or posting Monday's & Tuesday's only.

We prefer our eggs to be picked up (by arrangement) and ask that you please provide your own eggs trays / cartons when collecting them.
We will pack up & post eggs out at the Buyers' convenience (not ours) and this is done so, 'at the buyers own risk' and expense and we post with NZ tracking post on Monday's & Tuesday's only if paid for in time & confirmed prior. .

There will always be some risk having eggs posted out, although packaged well, we cannot control what happens to them along the way, therefore we do NOT Refund or Replace in the event of bad luck or if any fail to develop or hatch!

Eggs are perishable goods, so once contacted, egg orders require payment asap, otherwise eggs may not be held or available when you want them. . We no longer hold eggs if not paid for & confirmed within one day of ordering them, as this causes our eggs to be wasted, as we often turn others away once they are sold.

Any breed/s with unacceptable or low fertility would not be offered for sale, however it is unreasonable to expect 100% hatching with any eggs, but great when you do, so while we all do hope for the best fertility & hatch rates (please do not expect it) as anything over a 50% hatch rate from posted eggs would be acceptable!  Any less and that would just be bad luck!

Alternatively you may wish to purchase some of our day old chicks (we have a hatching every week, so have newly hatched chicks available) to save all the hassle of hatching them out yourself, or to pop under a broody hen that has already been sitting for some time.
