Blue Laced Wyandotte + Splash (Buff) Laced Wyandotte
Stunning in their colourful lacy attire is the Wyandotte - pictured above are our very own birds.
The Blue & Buff laced Wyandotte are yet another colour of the Wyandotte breed with the usual expected stunning good looks.
We have found this breed to be of excellent nature and hardy.
The Blue laced Wyandotte carries the same sort of blue gene as any blue poultry such as the Andalusian's & Orpington alike, therefore not all chicks will hatch out blue laced. Hatching chicks from the blue laced colour will result in chicks not only hatching out in blue [blue laced] but also a few will hatch out as black [gold laced] & splash [blue/Buff laced] with blue - blue matings. This is just the way all blue poultry genetics work, including in blue laced varieties as well as with blue ducks also.
All the Wyandotte breeds should have a rose comb, making them very suitable for all NZ environments, as they are not prone to frost bite in the colder climates! Easy care and generally a good layer, they are a very hardy, friendly heavy breed, that suit free range foraging, and which will also adapt well to a coop situation.
We have found the Blue & Buff [splash] Laced variety to have good size cream - light brown eggs.
